What is Off the Couch Method?

It is an experiential way of moving from insight into lived practice. You notice a protective pattern, explore what opposite experience or capacity is missing, rehearse a reachable alternative, test it in real life, and return with data. Progress means increasing access and choice—not becoming perfect.

What does “Nothing is wrong with you” mean?

It means you are not the defect. A response can have protective logic and still create consequences or need to change. Understanding the system does not remove responsibility; it gives us more accurate information for practicing another available response.

Will I be unconscious or out of control in hypnosis?

No. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention. Participation remains voluntary, and you may refuse an exercise, open your eyes, pause, or end a session at any time. Experiences vary from person to person.

What does “somatic” mean here?

It means including present-moment body information—such as posture, breath, sensation, orientation, or movement—rather than working only through analysis. Practices are invitational and adaptable.

Does Sonya diagnose or treat mental health conditions?

No. Sonya is a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist and NLP Practitioner, not a licensed medical or mental health provider. Her services are educational and supportive and are intended to complement appropriate care.

Can I continue working with my therapist or physician?

Yes. You are encouraged to continue appropriate care. When it may support consistency and falls within an approved process, Sonya may request written permission to coordinate with a licensed provider.

Are sessions virtual?

The website is being prepared around virtual access by default. Final service formats and eligibility will be confirmed before public booking opens.

What happens during Office Hours?

You may bring a conversation, boundary, relationship pattern, decision, or other real-life situation. With consent, the room may use role-play, rehearsal, body information, optional relational data, and a small real-world experiment. You may also attend without bringing an issue to the floor.

Do I have to share or role-play?

No. Every practice is invitational. You may observe, modify, slow down, keep your eyes open, decline relational feedback, pass, or stop. Discomfort is information, not medicine, and suffering is not treated as proof of growth.

Do I have to believe in parts, archetypes, spirituality, or energetic models?

No. Some lenses are scientific, some psychological, some contemplative, and some metaphorical. Sonya identifies the kind of lens being offered. Belief is not required; curiosity is enough, and usefulness can be tested through your experience.

What does “Life is the laboratory” mean?

The room is for rehearsal, not performance. The meaningful test happens in daily life: try the smallest honest experiment, notice what happens, and use that information to integrate, adapt, or choose the next possibility.

Is Where Is Your State? a diagnosis?

No. It is a private educational reflection tool. It helps you notice current signals, understand why a route was selected, try an optional practice, and compare what you notice afterward.

Where does my Where Is Your State? information go?

Where Is Your State? and its matching practice are a separate self-regulation experience—not part of the client intake. Its ratings stay in this browser on this device by default and are not submitted with the intake, sent to Sonya, or stored in the client portal. On a shared device, local browser storage should not be considered private.

What are Office Hours?

Office Hours are not Sonya’s general business hours. They are scheduled two-hour live Zoom educational and experiential rooms shared by Off the Couch Method and Cleanse Your Lens of Perception. You can choose a drop-in, a weekly rhythm, one program’s two weekly rooms, or the All Zoom Access Pass across all four rooms.

What if I need urgent or crisis support?

This website and Sonya’s services are not emergency or crisis resources. If there is immediate danger, contact the emergency services available in your location or an established licensed-care provider.
